2021 LONG TERM ART EDUCATION RESIDENCY

together, during the 2021 art residency "remarkable women" we will investigate the contributions of 39 women who have made an impact on american history and who have inspired generations to pursue their dreams.

Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin
& lucille Ball

cecilia payne-gaposchkin
pioneering astrophysicist & astronomer

  Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin was born in England in 1900.  She attended Cambridge University later moving from Cambridge England to Cambridge Massachusetts to pursue her studies and opportunities in science.
Truly a remarkable woman, Cecilia published a book in 1925 sharing that she had discovered that the sun is made of hydrogen and helium gas!

Materials:
reed pieces
tacky glue
skewers or OLD paint brushes
paper cut for stars
​paper towels
aprons for Peeps

NOTE:  If this step moves quickly and you have extra time, the artists could cut the spiral circles whch will decorate the stars after they are painted.

In 1951, I Love lucy premiered on CBS

I love lucy  invented the sitcom format, the live audience and the rerun
(I'm happy for that!)

liquid watercolors
salt
paint brushes
paper towels

scissors
glue dots

STAFF NOTE:  I suggest using a needle to poke the small hole for the monofilament to go through for hanging.
