Mid-century modern
Ray Eames

Ray Eames born Bernice Kaiser in 1912 was one half of a design duo that influenced and led mass market furniture production in the 20th century. In 1940 Ray met Charles Eames while he was working with a new product called plywood. Ray helped Charles to prepare a molded chair for a competition held by the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art. Together they won the first and second prizes, as well as each others hearts - they were married in 1941.
Together the pair revolutionized mass produced furniture and brought mid-century modern style into our homes and daily lives. |
