Sally Ride considered being a professional tennis player but after months of intense practice changed her mind and pursued her college degree.
A newspaper ad posted by NASA was the springboard that eventually sent her into space as not only America's youngest astronaut but also America's first woman astronaut and fame that she was not expecting. Known as a advocate for women in fields of technology and science, she served as a role model and inspiration for many young girls in her pursuit for women to become equal to men in the realm of science. NOTE TO STAFF:
I have purchased the DVD of Women Makers Season 2. The documentary covers background of quite a few women in space, I suggest having the Peeps who are interested watch it as time allows.
