"remarkable women" the study of 39 women who made an impact on american history

PENNSYLVANIA COUNCIL ON THE ARTS LONG TERM RESIDENCY at
Bradford Ecumenical Home, Inc.

Remarkably, 46 of the 50 art sessions were completed virtually with Julie dropping off prepared materials, and video lessons created in her home studio and shared with the incredible staff and residents of Bradford Ecumenical.  Residents and staff followed the steps and the results were amazing.

This Art Residency program culminated with a public art show featuring over 150 original works of art.  The solo show of resident artwork was displayed in August 2021 at the KOA Gallery on the Bradford Campus of Pittsburgh University.  I am personally inviting you to view the video tour of the gallery. -JM

Beaded Art

Inspired by a medicine pouch, the design of this 3D piece was created by the artists and created as a small mosaic using beads.  Paper mesh was added to the back to create the fringe and a little pocket to hold a small piece of felt infused with essential oil for a bit of aroma therapy.

The artists followed along to draw beans, squash and corn first in pencil then with a heavy outline of charcoal.  The primary colors (blue, red and yellow) were used to mix and create all the hues used in the project.
