Civil Rights Icon, Activist, Author, Speaker

Ruby Bridges, born in 1954 is known world-wide for her role during the New Orleans school desegregation crisis.  While in kindergarten, Ruby was tested and passed the school board test allowing her to be offered an opportunity for a better education.  She became the first African-American child to desegregate the all-white William Frantz Elementary School in Louisiana on November 14, 1960.
