Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures. ~Henry Ward Beecher
In 2004 I went to Oregon for a private workshop with Claudia Nice, a fellow pen and ink artist; while I was there she introduced me to watercolors and my black and white world opened up to great possibilities. My learning experiences continued with water-soluble oils a few years into my experience with color and the rich textures grabbed my attention. During the Spring of 2009 I attended a series of acrylic painting workshops led by artist Nance Jackson of Little Valley, New York at a local arts council.
I still enjoy painting with watercolors and drawing with pen and ink; however that month of weekly painting classes pulled me into an opportunity to create with not just color, but also physical texture and fun painting techniques. I have been pursuing a passion for acrylic painting ever since. My thanks is extended to Cara for asking me to the class and Nance for leading me down a new path.
